Dave Jensen grew up in the Midwest and started drag racing when
he was just 14 years old. For 10 years he drag raced building his own cars and
cars for customers as well. The last car that he raced was a C Fuel Dragster.
In 1970 and 71 Dave worked on Gene Snow's Funny Car Team.
In 1977 Dave attended a stock car race for the first time at
I-70 Speedway. He was hooked and built his first Late Model in the winter of
1977. Dave ran the Marty Robbins 400 in 1978 and was taken out in a
first lap accident. By 1979 he had decided that racing locally was not going
to get him anywhere, so he started racing throughout the Midwest and with
the ASA Series.
Rookie of the Year honors were within his grasp in the ASA Series
in 1980, but he finished as the runner up. Dave ran ASA and the All-Pro Series
through 1985. Also in 1985 he started his first racing parts business
in Grain Valley, Missouri.
In 1988 Dave Jensen built his first ARCA Car. He ran ARCA Speedway
races all the way through 1994 including Daytona and Talladega His driving career
came to an abrupt halt following an accident at Atlanta Motor Speedway that
left him in a coma for 3 weeks. The recovery took a long and trying 6 months.
One week before his crash Dave bought a piece of land near Mooresville.
NC to continue his climb to the top of motorsports. After his full
recovery Dave sold the parts business in Missouri and
moved to Mooresville, NC to start Dave Jensen Enterprises South. Howard Bowen
made the move with them, and together they have built a thriving Race Parts
Business in the heart of NASCAR country.
